Looks like the town of century is taking notiice of how to fleece the public from the feds. If you can’t fund the budget because of your incompetence, raise taxes. So typical. I thought WE had to vote on a tax increase.

I may be missing something, but according to Sec. 1.03. – Power to Levy Taxes, of Century’s Code of Ordinances, “There shall be no additional ad valorem tax levied on the citizens of the town above and beyond the ad valorem tax rate in effect on the effective date of this charter unless and until any increase recommended by the town council has been approved by the majority of the qualified electors of the town in a referendum called for such purpose.” So, is this or any other property tax increase valid without a referendum?

The charter says prior to raising property tax it has to go to a referendum.
