You arrest them and they essentially become unemployable which leaves them to go back to their criminal ways. You dont arrest them, they continue to steal. No easy solutions and in the end the taxpayers and the victims are left holding the bag. I cringe at this level of stuff because the cost to the public can be high and the criminals get off sometimes without fully paying fines, penalties and are right back at it. Sometimes this stuff can lead to information about bigger stuff, but overall there's no deterrent. Their really arent solutions for these types of criminals. Not much more than saying “as long as you don’t get arrested again for XX years, nothing will happen to you for this crime.” Ya, they have to do drug tests and check in once a month, but that’s about it. However, taxpayers filling the jails with dopes and mopes who are not a threat to other humans, then allows dangerous violent people to be on the street. I am all for punishing the criminal, but I am tired of punishing the taxpayer while our society gets more dangerous as we release dangerous violent criminals without enough supervision and probation, because we lack funds, and then spend the same on dopes and mopes. Punish the criminal and quit punishing the taxpayer. Long prison sentences will not do a thing to deter the next person who wants a five finger discount. It is violent crime.....keep focused.
