Update;
His is “supposed” to be sentenced today. He “had” a plea agreement in place however Shull’s lawyer pulled a fast one and everyone is waiting on today. Hopefully , he’ll get the original 35 years that was recommended.

I served with Dean years ago in Sigonella. He was the type of person that in a good way that you can never forget.
My most senere condolences and prayers are with his family and closest friends who now have to deal with such a loss of a good and decent man like Dean.

Just Saying…the new ignition locks (for a few years now) have safeguards on them now. They are equipped with a camera, so each time you blow, it snaps a picture so no one can blow in it for them anymore. They caught on to that scam. I have a friend (who definitely learned his lesson) and its impossible to fool the ignition lock now…which of course is a good thing.

@RETIRED–Agree on the gloves. For every seemingly “foolproof” solution, there is always someone out there with a way to beat it. I am surprised (someone probably already working on it), that someone hasn’t already come up with a type of face mask that would filter out any trace alcohol, to defeat the blow into ignition lockout system.

I will never understand why one drunk on the road never hits another drunk on the road. It is always an innocent driver who is taken from loved ones.

Ignition locks do no good. The drunk just pays some young kid to blow in it for them. I’ve seen it happen several times. They pay some idiot teenager to ride around with them and blow whenever they start the car. If you REALLY want to stop it, put sensors in the steering wheel that detect the presence of alcohol in their hands. They have to have their hands on the wheel to drive. It works. The technology is out there. It just needs to be implemented in ALL cars manufactured and court ordered to be installed on any vehicles belonging to someone convicted of DUI.

There’s no telling how many are out there right now driving on suspended license’s and how many everyday that drink and get behind the wheel. This drunk with no respect for the law will get his just due.
