I fear inefficient and corrupt government. The defense budget is nearing a trillion dollars and I am more concerned about corruption with defense contractors than I am feeding children who will run businesses in the private sector and who will be doctors and nurses who care for my sick old butt. Educated children have made the American private enterprise second to none. I also share Chris's concern that there is an arrogance and hubris that socialism is ok in Military spending, but not ok in training a workforce in our schools who will make America second to none. If you are going to talk socialism, start with the VA system. In that regard I agree with Diane that " it is never okay to covet or steal from other people in any form," yet why can't veterans go to regular health care like the rest of the nation? Why is there a separate health care system? It is the most socialistic program in America, and people want to worry about free lunches in local schools. Hypocrisy speaks for itself. I raised my children on my own without ANY government help. No free lunches or breakfast or WIC OR free shots. I could have easily qualified. I homeschooled and bought my own curriculum for 12 years for two children. No one paid my bills. We struggled but we learned how to budget, budget, budget. Nothing is free in this country. Taxpayers taxes WILL go up. There aught to be a law that says if you use the system, YOU pay, if you don't use the system, you don't have to pay.
