It is truly sad and a real shame when motorists die on low speed roadways. Roads cannot always be straight and even when they are careless inattentive drivers still run right off of them (happens every day almost on Highway 29). This location has a posted speed limit of 35mph and that particular curve is easily negotiable at that speed. There are reflective markers posted throughout the curve to mark it for safety especially at night. If you look how badly that sports car is damaged it is very evident that the driver was going very fast. SMH ….. it’s a fairly simple program people…. drive the posted speed limit, pay attention to what you are doing, wear your seatbelt.

@ Duh….People always want more enforcement. They want a LEO to sit in their neighbors driveway (don’t sit in mine.) We have posted speed zones, stop signs, traffic lights, divided highways, all types of traffic control devices, and yet, people keep doing stupid stuff, often fatal. Don’t put me on jury duty! As safe as I consider myself to be, it seems that driving down to my local store is akin to Russian roulette. Not the LEO’s fault, most of the time they can only respond after tending to a present problem and all the attendant reports and paperwork. Lord help us all!

The county HAS done something. They posted speed limits and marked the roads with lines to indicate direction and turns. Been driving in and around that area for 50+ years with no problems now. What more would you ask of them? Oh, maybe another useless stop light to jam up traffic? Ridiculous

I’ve been down that road more than a few times and never wrecked. I guess doing the speed limit keeps me safe.

My family lives on that curve, I cant tell you how many people have died there. The neighbors are accustomed to cars flipping over in the yard, tearing down fences, crashing into massive oaks. WHEN will the County Commisioner, FHP, SOME official body DO something to straighten it out?
