Many times inmates commit new crimes when there time is close to expiring. They do this because they have no other place to go. And while we on the outside think they have lost there mind they know that when they EOS the next will begin and they will continue to eat and have a place to sleep.

These guys are technically still under custody of the department of corrections and alot of times won’t be charged but just returned to state prison to complete their sentence. Really? This needs to be changed because technically if they were still in custody this story wouldn’t read ESCAPED INMATE! Technicalities aside this latest one is free and avoiding capture.

Escape 2nd Degree is a Class C Felony:

For a Class C felony, not more than 10 years or less than 1 year and 1 day and must be in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 15-18-8 unless sentencing is pursuant to Section 13A-5-9 .
