It says Ferry Pass ms on there but received a letter stating the costs of meals and how to apply for reduced or free meals. I’m confused.

Are you guys REALLY complaining about having to pay for your OWN child’s food?

These schools are title 1 schools, these parents are broker than you perceive yourself to be.

Stop being mad that the government is making sure those kids aren’t going hungry all year long. Start being grateful for the ability to provide your own kid with food.

At this point all kids at every school should get free breakfast/lunch. What message does that send to our children at other schools where their parents are scraping by? On more than one occasion my child has used his lunch money to feed his friends.

Wilykyote, Many are excellent students but I had students who came back into the system and had never done any lessons while “homeschooled”. They would get free lunches too under your plan for doing nothing. I still can’t agree. Have a good day.

Sandy : Many of the homeschooled are considerably
advanced ( see recent School report cards).
A parents inability to
provide food, clothing,housing etc. for their children is kinda
revealing to those of us that did it on a shoestring years ago
and never received anything free including pre K and Kindergarten
and then College. The American Dream was originally based
on work and more work……not hand-outs and gimme’s. And the
School Boards money that is being offered for free was taken
from the Tax Payers .

Sorry Wilykyote but I disagree with you. If parents don’t want to take advantage of what the school district has to offer why should they get the free lunches? Besides those schools are low income schools.

I think some of y’all are missing the point – ANY kid that qualifies under the usual criteria for free lunch can get it at any school, they just have to apply, just like it’s always been until the last few years. The schools listed have a higher percentage lower-income families, so most likely it’s been determined more cost effective to just let any kid get lunch for free than to process all that paperwork.

Honestly, my kid has bought a school lunch maybe twice in two years at Ransom, and it’s not the price, its partially preference for a more simple lunch and partially because by the time they get through the lunch lines, there’s not much time left to eat.

Most are complaining about lunch not be offered free at your child’s school, yes my child school is on the list and I thank them very much, but regardless I still work and my tax dollars are still be used for others, criminals and the ECAT and I have never rode the bus. So just get over it and get out your feelings. Some people are never happy and guess what everyone is not gone be pleased all the time.
