William, question please.
After Hurricane Ivan in September of 2004 there was much talk of gas stations being required to have generators installed so the electrically operated pumps could run.
It seemed, at first anyway, there was gas at the stations but due to power outages they could not pump from underground tanks into vehicles.
Was that ever really a Requirement and if Yes has it been followed up on?
Also there was talk of each cell phone tower needing to have a backup generator to maintain communications for First Responders, National Guard and us regular citizens.
Was any of that ever really mandated by the state? If so, what is the current status?

I have seen in the news the horrors at these nursing homes we all send out loved ones to for end of life care. Some are ran great but most are not. The "medical personnel" are very low paid and some lack empathy for the aging. Some elderly are abused and neglected at "care" facilities. As I do not know any first hand I have read horror stories in the news. It seems many of these cases are popping up Nationwide and are under reported. The care takers need to be held accountable more often for neglect and abuse. The need to make tougher requirements for the "care takers.". Anyone who disagrees with these statements us not have a heart for the elderly and sick. You cannot argue against this. Please have a heart for our dying as you may one day be in their shoes.

You can tell folks who post here have never owned or ran a business. Big government mandates something. In this case a very logical and needed mandate. Private Sector firm running a nursing home for profit either has to have capital on hand, or they need to borrow the capital to meet the mandate. Banks giving out commercial loan are not the walk in the park as some suggest as the banks actually look at financials, and the truth is not all nursing homes in the State of Florida are reaping huge profits.

If the state felt this was a priority, they should have offered loan guarantees for any nursing home who installed the mandated equipment in the first year. Done.......but even the state knows that a good portion of those guarantees would go south, so why be surprised when the obvious happens, and next......H season with more deaths.......as certain as the sun will rise in the morning.

This is an extreme understatement ..and not just generators in these facilitues. Audits are just a well paid smoke screen along with 10th rate care..pockets are bulging from paid favors to turn and look the other way. I AM SERIOUS
