This is all I know about it, I have not personally experienced this, thank God, but hopefully this helps shine some light on how he "walked out" of the facility. It is not like prison, in a cell or lock down unit to my knowledge. The story headline does not say he “walked out”. It says “Inmate Escapes In Escambia County”.

And, according to the exact words of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, he “walked out” of the facility. Presumably he walked out at the wrong time and without permission, which is escape.
