Umm, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t self-defense being the other guy didn’t go to jail and they are calling him a victim. Point being, when you hit someone in the head it’s to hurt them. Whether it be with your fist or a pipe, the intention is to cause someone else pain.

@Howie – allegedly may be used to indicate a probable event, supported by evidence, but which has not yet been adjudicated.
The use of the term “alleged” by law enforcement came about in the 70’s as criminal defense lawyers successfully argued that their clients couldn’t be tried fairly because of statements of probable guilt made by LEOs and prosecuting attorneys.

Maybe Fontaine did indeed hit someone with a pipe. Does that make he did it on purpose, was used as self defense, or was so high or drunk he doesn’t remember. All the facts will come out in the presence of the Court as to why there was an argument and details about the pipe .

Victim was treated on the scene, non-life threatening, so probably a bump on the noggin’.

Just saying – I wasn’t there, so not giving any opinions.

The key word here is “Allegedly”. Be carful about comments on things you don’t know the whole story or truth about. Just sayin’. It is easy to assume, but in news stories like this you never know all the facts unless you were involved in some way.
