They are in too many cases the first friendly and safe face that kids see in the morning and the last one when getting off after school. Operators run many routes through traffic where the drivers are oblivious to that big yellow thing next to them and they have to have reactions and instincts way beyond that of the average commuter. Every time I see the red lights flashing and the STOP arm out I hold my breath hoping some distracted or "too busy to stop" driver won't hurt or murder someone's child by passing the stopped bus. Drivers, you touch lives, give smiles and encouragement and carry our kids and grandkids safely every day and for that I Sincerely Thank You Each and All.
