At taxpayer expense the county is experimenting with traffic flow during peak summer season. Saturday Jun 23 the drive from traffic light at Bayfront Parkway to toll plaza at Pensacola Beach took exactly 1 hour. Not a happy ride for out of town visitors plus one local. Once toll was paid traffic slogged along at snail’s pace blocking our right turn onto Ft Pickens road towards home. Was 5:30-6 pm congestion due to Saturday condo turnover and check in? Alternative cause could have have been rerouting of all traffic into Casino Beach Parking lot at Sidelines with left turn entry eliminated off Ft Pickens Road. Since I live in Sabine and Casino Beach Bar and Grill is a favorite spot I’m delighted the new plan allows me to turn right into parking lot off Ft. Pickens Rd at sheriff’s substation. They take up a lot of room!!!! Maybe sheriff’s dept. could park some cars at Island Authority building and walk over or create some type of shuttle? The price of the new ferry from town will deter most native families from using water entry to the beach. Gulf Breeze cannot be happy about the congestion beach traffic causes but they have resisted any kind of flyover option. The new bridge will not solve congestion in Gulf Breeze or on the beach. Think on these things, Escambia County, and try not to confuse summer tourists with road construction. Please.

There’s also a concert on the beach over the weekend. Great time to start “improvements” when it’s beginning of busy beach time.
