This is ridiculous! We have a child registered for summer school if they didn't do well in a math class. There's no way to tell if it's a waste of time to take the class over the summer or not. They could apply that time to another subject to get ahead.

No excuses valid. Report cards should leave the school with the student on the last day. If testing is the problem, fix that by removing all ridiculous testing.

ALL comments here are very valid.
Responsibility for being "Tardy" is at the State DOE level, Not our students, teachers, schools or the Superintendent as each of them is held in the same Waiting Pattern on the Test Scoring Company.
Yes, the End of Course Exam can impact students moving from one grade to another or having to retake a course or the test.
Yes, the End of Course Exam can make a difference in the College or University final acceptance of a student.
Yes, the student and parent connection and eligibility for sports programs can hinge on the EOC Exam scores being calculated into the Final Grade for a course.
Local Control is not a real thing in the education system for our state; Not in Public Schools anyway.
Grade for Florida's Legislature as applied to Public Education -- Chronic Absenteeism.

Grand Locust,
I think your being a little generous with the "F" grade.
It should be more like the "incomplete" grade.

What I do not understand is how the schools can mandate that our child must be at the school early, even before the buses run, to take some of the End of Course Exams. If they are for possible college credits then they can even charge the kids to "retake" or have the test proctored to them at a later date if they can not be there "on time" which is actually before the start of the school day. Some of these kids have no way to get there on these test dates and then find themselves in a position where they are being charged to take the test at a later date. It is wrong to do this and then on top of that they don't get their scores until weeks later? REALLY? If these kids are being asked to take these exams, and they are being scored and it is a part of their final grades then they should expect to have the grades returned to them in a timely fashion (3-5 days). Nowhere in any other setting would several weeks cut it. It is ridiculous what the school systems are teaching these young folks in regards to expectations, responsibilities and outcomes. Come on folks....you must do better. If we want these young people to succeed then we must give them the tools that they will need and sadly the school system is falling short in several areas!!!

So how much does this affect the colleges, also waiting to see that report card. They will not assume the student didn't slack off once accepted to the university. These students are up against students whose school systems are on time. Once again, the machines cannot replace humans with eyeballs who can do this by hand on the day the exams are taken - been there, done that.

Imagine if your final test scores determined if you were going to be on restriction for the summer break. Seems like some kids have scored big with this delay.

When you lose local control of your schools, then getting your child's report card in August becomes the norm. Here is an expedited grade for the State of Florida and their attempts to improve education. F...........see how easy that was, and it is still May.

Florida Dept of Education initiated the End of Course Exam some years ago with big promises of quick turn around of student scores in the critical areas.
Never lived up to that promise and now the process is glacially slow and often has flaws in the scoring which means the kids exams have to be re-checked.
All the scoring is done by outside agencies, or was, and at a HUGE Cost to the taxpayers.
Kids, Parents, Schools are held up from knowing the REAL Grades for Middle and High School students until the EOC Exam scores are released.
To many this is a horrible disservice to the students and parents and the schools.
There's GOTTA be something Better.
