This is a bad idea. Traffic will always move faster at a four way stop. The biggest problem with the four way stop is the people in Pensacola don’t know how to drive. By that I mean, people here don’t know the rules. When people pull up to the stop signs, they don’t know who is supposed to go when it is there turn. Add to that, that people are more attentive to their phones then driving, and you have nothing but chaos. A red light will not stop that. It will only make traffic worse in that spot. The average wait time for the stop sign is about 30 seconds. It will go up to two to two and half minutes for the red light. No one wants to wait for their turn at a stop sign, imagine your wait now at a red light. Since there will be turning lanes and lights, it just means less traffic will be able to move straight thru. No one is thinking this out, only thinking about the so called slowness of the stop signs. Now everyone will be screwed. Just think how they drive at the red lights on HWY 29, and you will see how they will drive at this one. Come on people, use your heads. I’m sorry if anyone gets offended, but my momma always said the truth hurts.

I live right on 297A a block from the intersection, it takes me at least 10 minutes nightly to pull into my driveway from the traffic lined up at the four way stop. Now we have 62 houses going up on 297A and now the construction from this. Hopefully it will be nice when completed.

Swinging over west to HWY 97 can still get you to Kingsfield past any of the construction.

Those of us trying to get to work on the other side of all the construction use Kingsfield due to 9 mile and 29 being such a mess. Kingsfield was the only road I didn’t sit in traffic for 20 minutes but now it will be a mess too. Escambia county is not very good at timing it’s construction projects. Now I will have over an hour commute just to get to my office near the equestrian center…great!

Hate to hear this. A redlight there would be great but it will make traffic bad for a long time during construction. The traffic itself has gotten so bad on highway 29 that quite a few of us who live north of cantonment go that way home. Then there is the endless train that makes matters worse in cantonment. It has become a nightmare traveling highway 29 in cantonment. Now 297A and kingsfield is going to be a mess. Guess I need a pilots license.

I think Roads Inc. is still working on Olive Rd. The county better make them finish that mess before the start another. It will be 5 years of misery for this intersection.

I remember when Ramson Middle School was built. It was a nightmare for buses and parents to get onto Hwy 29. Lots of accidents. Now with a new elementary school opening up, I can see another nightmare.

Plus all the new subdivisions being added. Yes I agree with David. Way overdue the way things are building up.
