Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

(I have this poem in my desk, so I can read it each day for all the animals who have passed. Animals deserve prayers too.)

@Sage2

Do dogs go to heaven? Here is my belief.

If humans do, dogs most certainly do. Why? Because we require the Blood of Jesus to wash away our shortcomings and iniquities, but dogs are absolutely perfect in their spheres. If we, as the fallible humans we are, can return to the presence of our Father, why can't the INFALLIBLE creatures he gave us as companions be there with us? We will cross over that Rainbow Bridge one day and find our loving companions just as they were in their youth, and they will be just as excited at seeing us then as they always were here.

Right or wrong? That is my opinion, and I do not know of anyone that can prove otherwise.

Wayne, I am so sorry for your loss. It is like losing a child when we lose a beloved pet. I lost my Illeden a few yrs back and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. I know your life w/o Miso will be forever changed. I pray for peace for your broken heart.

I remember seeing Miso during your field competitions. He was an awesome partner and always made it look effortless. To see him jump or run was amazing and almost graceful. Again I am so,so sorry for your loss.

Will Rogers was asked if dogs go to heaven? His reply...If they don't, I don't want to go either. I'll echo that for the brave Deputy Miso and my Yorkie!

I know Miso spoke to your hearts, not words you could hear. The Lord sure knew what he was doing when he created animals. A special blessing to Officer Gulsby, his family and those who were lucky enough to know him.

I'm so sorry Wayne. I remember a few times bringing Miss around. More than just a dog or even a partner. I have no doubt you'll see him again.
