To those who are praising this driver – thank you! Thank you for supporting her! For those who say you wish the school district would pay the drivers more — help us do that by electing state legislators who will fully-fund education – really fund it (not say you are giving education more money than ever and then requiring the districts do this or that with the funds leaving them without enough money for a real pay raise)… help us with your votes! For anyone with children who ride a big yellow bus, please have a serious discussion about how your child can help set the right tone by modeling polite, respectful behavior on the buses (and at school). And for those who kids already do that – Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps you would like to come on up and be a school volunteer – we could sure use you!!!

ive been a bus driver for 17 years here in Escambia County. We get no help from schools even on the bus ramp when we sit and wait for help. Were told just take them home. With up to 77 children behind us screaming fighting jumping seats crawling under seats throwing items. While your trying to watch traffic all around the bus. PARENTS need to step up take responsibility for their children who more than likely act this way at home!!!!! IF FEEL YOUR CHILD IS NOT SAFE THEN BY GEORGE. DRIVE THEM in you car and let them act wild but on a bus they need to sit down stay buckled up!! DONT JUDGE the driver for the way your child behaves. STEP UP your children’s behavior is what’s causing theses accidents and it is on video!

Mrs Margaret is an amazing person and a great bus driver .

I’ll say this! I have the utmost faith in this bus driver! My kids ride this bus, and she loves all of the kids on her bus as if they are her own. It’s an unfortunate accident. She would not do anything to jeopardize the safety of these kids. Not. Ever. I received a call from the school system at 2:09 which was MINUTES after it happened. If you did not receive a call you might want to check with the county to see if your number is correct in the system!

@Bella I believe ECSD is hiring bus drivers, feel free to apply. The drivers at our school are heroes to come to work every day. No $ for bus aides, and the traffic is increasing. Every day the Admin staff meets the busses to deal with the misbehaving students. It’s not a job for the faint of heart. It’s amazing there are not MORE accidents.

Are you a perfect driver? Hats off if you’ve never had an accident. You have no idea what it takes to get up everyday and drive a bus load of kids to school and home. Your bottom of the barrel statement is what’s wrong with society today. Everyone draws conclusions before getting the facts. You don’t know Mrs. B. You don’t understand that she’s an outstanding bus driver which is loved by her students and everyone associated with her. If you ever get in an accident i hope that nobody makes such a heartless comment. I teach at a school she drives for. I’ll tell you what. Put yourself in timeout for the rest of the day and think about what you said and how it affects others. Sound childish? So did your comment.

Ms. B is the best. Since we who know her love her and know the awful things our own children do on those buses at times–someone ought to take care with their wonderings. And some of us just had a discussion that very day about the traffic on Muscogee and Hwy 29. Bus driving school children is for the brave. Hang in there, Ms. B.

We were stationed in Spain (complements of US Navy) and had children attending school on base. By Spanish law, there had to be one adult besides the driver to maintain control of the children. One day a month, a parent was obliged to ride the entire route from start to finish , both in the morning and in the afternoon.
I think it would be a great idea to carry over to the US. After all, as parents we have a vested interest in how our children behave and it could only be advantageous to have the bus driver devote their FULL ATTENTION to driving!
