Know the weak zones of the human body The best defense is avoidance and the mind made up to absolutely not intend to be a victim under any circumstance what so ever. Never .IMO Pepper spray is also a good thing to keep on your belt, like when going to grocery store, For one I would think nothing of spraying a perp in the face, getting in my car and moseying on home but if I have to resort to the firearm then that may interrupt my schedule, so that would be a last resort, mostly because of that.. That's my thoughts on the matter.. @Sedition

Yes, hand to hand techniques are very important, but for realistic self defense, the effective and safe use of a hand gun is of vital importance. It is a true equalizer. If I had evil on my mind, I would take my chances attacking a woman hand to hand since I've studied martial arts myself and am physically larger and stronger than most women, but if she whips out even a .380 or .22...it's not worth the risk. She doesn't even necessarily have to fire it; the chance of "lead poisoning" alone would make me back off quickly. That’s what I was thinking Citizen.
