That much we do know. There is a lot that is not clear to me based on the article, including:

Did she know he had a gun? Did she take him to the house for purpose of revenge, or were they just passing through? MLK is one of the main thoroughfares in the northeast part of town. Does she have anything to do with story other than driving a car?

When I read the first article, I think I recall that the shooter was accompanied by his mother as he turned himself in. Without knowing the details of the story, I remember being proud of the mother for getting her son to do the right thing after he messed up, even though she will likely never see him in the free world for many years. What a heart-wrenching choice that must have been, especially in a society that where you do not “snitch” especially on family.

I’m not saying she is innocent or without fault. I just would hesitate to make a snap judgment before we know the details. It seems as though we demand perfection of everyone around us, and expect others to give grace to us when we make mistakes.

The mark of character in my mind is not perfection (for all fall short), but what one does after mistakes.

I would agree with worried that from this article, we don’t know everything. If any of us happen to be any similar circumstance some day, I think we would appreciate similar sentiments.

Not sure why they are being chastised for giving the advice to “Wait to make up your mind until you have all the facts.”

@ worried: You’re right, the two of them were on the way to the library when they spotted this youth, and then a gun just fell from the sky and fired right at the moment it was near their vehicle. Furthermore, Jesus said to “judge with righteous judgment.” Fact check your presumptions before you hit “submit comment.”

Maybe this woman was trying to be a “cool mom” and it was an epic fail. Of course by her age and his it seems she had him very young. Guess she never grew up or taught her son how to be a man. Not that her being young when she had him is an exccuse, I know several teen mom’s who raised their kids to be good people and honestly feel most of them were very strict on their kids which I believe is what helped them turn out well. This woman was obviously not concerned with being a grown up and raising her son to be a good man.

You have to be kidding about we don’t know rest of story. Even if a fight at school started this mother shoukd have NEVER!!!! got into car and drive her son to shoot at anyone. They both need to be in prision!!!!
