The taxpayers will cover his medical bills for a few years until he is on medicare. It would be great if a tenant had a safety net which when being evicted he would not have to have an angry and emotional experience, but simply a safe transfer to a safe harbor until his problems got addressed. The taxpayers will now pay one million dollars to house this man, and the victim will have life long impact from this violent action, yet a thousand dollar housing stipend which allowed him to get resettled could help fifty families a year for 20 years for what the taxpayer is now paying to house him in prison. He belongs right where he is, but could this and other violence between tenants and landlords be avoided with smart use of taxpayer money.....sure.
