Over 10,000 alcohol related deaths in vehicles last year. Do a survey on how many responsible citizens own so called assault type weapons that are not shooting anyone vs. how many irresponsible people are. If I stab anyone with my pocket knife it then becomes an assault weapon. How about the old M-1 Grand. Do you consider it an assault weapon. Every year modern improvement make vehicles change shapes and designs. Even your hunting rifles are improved over previous models.

When a school shooting happens, we are bombarded with all sorts of rhetoric about how bad guns are.

but yet not one person in power criticizes the gun-free zone which puts our students in harm's way in the first place.

If there is no way to verify that a gun-free zone is indeed gun-free, then there is no such thing as a gun free zone.

It can also be said that the first time a gun-free zone was violated, all gun free zones were violated for all time, and made worthless.

People run screaming and crying for gun control to the leaders who refuse to admit they created the horror of the gun-free zone, and our leaders try to convince us that somehow leaving ourselves *less* protected against a threat the government cannot fix is a good idea.

So in the end we will be less protected from any threat, either a lawbreaker with a gun or the government itself, because we somehow bought into the complete lie that a gun-free zone without a means to verify it was a good idea.

I mean, you don't hear about shootings at courthouses... where they have metal detectors and guards...

Well said Tabby. I totally agree, and most of these gun control liberals think that the law abiding citizens who own these weapons aren't capable of coherent thought. I don't hunt, but I do have the constitutional right to defend myself and my property from criminals AND from government tyranny. That alone is a reason to have an AR 15 that fires NATO rounds.

Look if a person wants to have all the legal weapons today in their home, a big thumbs up. Keep em. However, when I transfer my oversized RV, I need to go online and get a transport permit. The supreme Court has affirmed the RIGHT of folks to keep pistols and rifles in their homes. Yet, our use of public roads is a privilege and there is an absolute right of congress to regulate transport of guns pursuant to the clear Supreme Court decisions in the last ten years. Got a conceal and carry you are exempt from needing a permit to transfer your gun from one location to another. Any other gun needs a permit, and like my RV needing red safety flags, an oversize banner on the back and special lighting with some states requiring an escort car., a gun will require a locked gun case with a permit to transport the same in a vehicle. A simple smart phone app like UBER will take the foid number, route, time and day, and purpose. The smart phone will have a permit issued unless the person is on a watch list. All others will have a permit on their phone in less than a minute. Just like my paperless and immediate rental agreement being transferred to my phone, I can show an officeer my rental agreement or gun transport permit. Mandatory and immediate jail sentences once a preliminary hearing determines if driving without a permit was a good faith mistake or a crime. 90 people are dying a day from guns. All these measures will do is lower the number of death by gun, it will no more insure safety than the armed law enforcement who have failed to do the same since Columbine.

Surely you know that there are laws on the books that ban many things that disrupt society. Here are a few
it is against the law to DUI, yet so many do. I would guess that any one that drinks, has had too much at one time or other but still drove.
It is illegal to do drugs too but how many ignore that ordinance
How about texting and driving...How many times have you seen people still doing that
Same will happen with banning an"assault weapon lookalike"
So many security measures could been taken at these schools that were ruled out due to cost or other reasons.
And how about the mental health side. The young man was disowned by his natural parents, his adoptive family had died and he was living with others that couldnt control him legally. How much harassment was he getting from classmates
The whole system failed him too He could have been ubder some help from agencies, the school should have observed him more and there are facilities he could have been assigned to to help him

Sickening. An AR-15 isn't an assault rifle. Even if it were, so what. Our firearm rights aren't just for hunting. They are to protect us from government tyranny which the founders of our nation knew so well. The first thing a country turning communist will do is confiscate firearms, and for good reason. We should be able to have any weapon our government has. Their agenda is working well however. Research their urbanization plans then look at the brainwashed idiots in places like South Florida. Even here. Yuppies addicted to phones, technology, completely controlled by it and the media on it. Cause Google said.......
