I also drove past the scene after the fact, when all of the cruisers were there, and wondered what had happened. Now that I know, here are my thoughts…if the accused was fighting the deputy, a call probably went out over the radio which would bring additional officers. At least one of those cruisers was probably a supervising officer which is mandatory in an officer involved altercation. After the incident, the crime lab unit would be called in to process the scene to preserve whatever evidence there is, including photos of any possible injuries to both parties.

And let’s not forget, all of this took place within a couple of miles from the Sheriff’s Sub Station on Hood Drive.

Not a wise choice for Mr. Russaw. Hopefully, justice will prevail.

Hope the assailant goes to prison for hitting deputy, but I would not count on it.

I saw this while passing going to town. I wondered what big time crime had happen with so many police cars and one crime lab car. I am all about protecting all citizens even if you are on duty. I just have to wonder — did it take this many police and a crime lab car to take down one man. just my question…

I meant to also say, after seeing this on my way into town, and seeing one lone car with about eight to ten police cars, and I have no idea how many deputies were about, that you don’t mess with a hornet’s nest. Mess with a deputy, and you’ll have them swarming around you like a mad bunch of hornets.

Saw this on my way into town. Glad the deputy wasn’t hurt. And I hope this young man will learn something from this.
