she was 90!!!! And driving AT NIGHT?! These 2 sweet kids are one of my closest friends. There were no skid marks, she hit them full speed head on. Who lets a 90 year old drive? And AT NOGHT???

Anne and others,

There is something called age discrimination. At the same time there is something called responsibility. All drivers should show it. Cocerned about age and driving ability is legit but, stats show more problems with younger drivers texting and driving. Doubt any younger person lays down their license because they texti or are just on the phone too much. When recreational marijuana is legalized you won’t have to worry about 90 years old drivers. The marijuana group had every intention to get Florida a recreatinal drug state. You won’t have to worry about 90 year old drivers then. Anne, by the way, I’m in my 60’s and choose not to drive again because of medical issues.

god bless all the families.maybe she had a heath problem that cause her to cross line.if youre in bad health they dont ned a license.i know a man thats 97 and still driving.i dont know how but he does and hes still good at it.some live alone and cant get another way to go.its sad.either way .

I know Mary Brink and sh was a good driver. She could back into a parking place. I believe she must have had a medical emergency.

@Common Sense : A 30-Something in a large northbound Nissan Pickup blew through the light at Hwy. 29 and west Roberts Road two days ago. The light had been red for a while, because the car in front of me had already gone through, but luckily I had the feeling the guy wasn’t going to stop, and I waited. Had I followed the preceding car car as usual, there would have been another “multiple fatality accident” story on North Escambia.
Poor driving isn’t only found in older drivers. That stretch of road is dark, it had been raining, and it was wet. There were other contributing factors in addition to age.
My condolences and prayers for all involved and their families.

I hate to see any elderly person or anyone involved in a accident. When elderly people are involved, oh my goodness do they get the third degree. I have a neighbor in her 70’s and has been driving over 55 years and never received a ticket in her life. I live on Hwy. 97 between Hwy 29 and Atmore . This is a nice road yet there are head on collisions, cars in ditches. A car in my front yard upside down with a young woman with a cellphone sitting beside her car. Pray for all. Young and Old.

I am 71 and I agree with the younger people. I get my eyes checked, now have to wear glasses. I have a physical every year. I have younger friends(as in 25-35) who occasionally have ride with me. They have been told to let me know if I am not smart enough to know when to quit by me. They may someday hurt my feelings by telling me that but I will remain living(which I enjoy) and won’t have to live with knowing I killed somone else.

Concur completely with Erica, I see it more and more in Florida. Been saying for decades that states need to start giving senior citizens a physical and DRIVING test every year after a certain age,…if your good to drive then there’s no problem,.. instead of grandfathering these folks in with another license. I saw old man today at 9 mile and chemstrand just run red from a dead stop in turning lane,..along with all the elderly “easy riders” on motorcycles, getting more dangerous!

Very sorry to hear about this, sympathy to the families of all involved.
Age has nothing to do with driving. Young kids kill and/or get killed everyday driving and texting or not paying attention to the road.
