I'm glad that the two drivers were not injured. By shear luck or divine providence, the outcome of this accident was nothing close to typical. We need a rule change from DOT and/or the legislature to save lives. Logs should not be allowed to extend more than 18" beyond the bumper of the trailer! Need to haul longer logs? Get a longer trailer.

I know many of you are talking about the safety devices missing or knocked off, but looking at the angle of impact on the F150 and the trees broken on the tractor trailer the only conclusion I can see is the following:
F150 in the right lane at a higher speed than the tractor trailer traveling in the left lane. Semi decides to change lanes and does not pay attention to the speed of the approaching light (time of day lights are on) weather he could see the vehicle or not the light would be clearly visible in his side mirror.
The tractor trailer then proceeded to make the lane change, causing the faster moving F150 to smash into the log hanging of the right side of the trailer (clearly visible in pictures). Due to the angle of impact the logs were pushed further to the right leaving the drivers seat unscathed.
Contributing factors being the speed of the F150 and the negligence of the tractor trailer driver. I cannot say weather the driver of the F150 was above the speed limit but he was traveling at a higher rate of speed than the semi. Clearly with the point of impact on the tractor trailer none of the required safety devices would have been removed of damaged by the accident. One can only conclude that the driver of the tractor trailer is at fault and failed to provide a safe driveling environment for other on the road.

@master mechanic...actually blinking light is mandatory day or night along with 2 flags...preferably at eye level is where I always put them so it would be at the best visible to drivers

For those of you saying that he did not have the proper flagging on the logs on the back of the trailer how do you know that the truck did not knock them off.

Turns out I know the man, he’s from Jay & came into my barber shop for a haircut yesterday afternoon (just hours after the wreck). A little banged up from the airbag but no serious injurys. Thank the Lord for watching out for him & his family.
God is good.

DOT regulations Require Red flags during daylight hours & a Red / Orange flashing lite during the hours of darkness on the end of the logs if they extend past the rear of the trailer 4' or more.I see trailer lites on &,no lites on the end of logs.If the driver has a CDL Drivers License he & his employer know this......I'm a licensed DOT Inspector & a Master truck / Trailer Techanican.
Thank God the Ford P / UP driver walked away unscathed.
