If you think you might be going across the scale, FYI. The FLDOT will add the weight of your truck and trailer. The total weight of everything is what will have to be on your registration. I was pulling my trailer with a tractor on it. When I cross the scales I was fined $2,150.00. It is 5 cent a pound for every pound over what is on your registration. I found this out the hard way. I hope I might have helped someone with the information.

Check the GVW on your registration. They have mine listed as 7999 when it actually only weighs 5062. If you don’t know the weight of your vehicle and declare it, whatever they have listed is what you will be charged for. Mine is a difference of about $30. Do not use the GVWR listed on your door. That is the vehicles maximum weight limit and not the actual weight.
