A security officer is a great idea! I remember Fred’s Dollar store in Atmore, AL had an undercover officer when they opened. They can afford it, they build a Dollar General store 15 minutes apart from each other; they can definitely afford an undercover asset protection. It really would benefit them in the long run vs how many Dollar General stores are being robbed but then again they wouldn’t be able to claim one their insurance when they’re robbed. Some I do believe are inside jobs, the suspects seem to know when the right time or right night to do it. The suspect may not exactly work there but I feel they know someone who does. Not saying all robberies are like this for DG stores but I think alot are. Thank God no one has gotten hurt or killed. Major deposits should be done 2 or 3 hours before closing instead of waiting to closing time. Regional managers should make an unannounced visit on random nights.

This is the kind of “progress” Molino can expect when you get a Walmart or Beulah Beltway. It essentially moves 9 mile Rd your way. Sad the hippies are taking over, even using the peoples character against them, very sad.

This isn’t the first time this store has been robbed. The ease of access from several directions allows easy egress as well. I agree that some high definition surveillance inside and out woild help immensely.

DG should install some high def. surveillance cameras at the entrance. It would certainly make ESCO’s job a bit less complex.

Security Camera Footage???

Perhaps criminal know who has them and doesn’t–How much shoplifting is done prior to the robberies..That is a way to case the place

May not be a lot of cash but if they make it easy pickings..then they will figure it and and target them.

First – it seems to always be just before closing time. Employees be aware of this. Keep your eyes and ears open to customers just loitering around. Most of these robbers will make several stops by the store to check out your routines.

Second – security cameras on the exterior of the building to capture vehicles or their method of transportation. Security cameras in the store directly above the register.

Third – change the policy on how Doll
ar General handles the money being removed from the registers at closing. Remove all the cash long before closing and keep very little to make change. Make it known that the money safe is a drop safe and can not be opened by the employees. Also, you must make a purchase before the register drawer opens.

I’ve worked in retail for years, and my employer had policies in place to protect the employees.

Tina B, a full time security guard would cost them more in salary than they lose in robberies. It’s all about cost vs benefit.

It definitely seems as though Dollar General stores get robbed to often. Maybe they should consider hiring a security officer. Not sure it would help much, but it’s worth a try.
