In regards to ‘Suellen’ please reread my post. I didn’t say it was illegal to make a u turn. The same thing happened to me as ‘north end resident’ posted. Actually, ‘Suellen’, I do make a complete stop on right turn on red and I do know the traffic laws in the state of Florida.

PLEASE put a No U Turn sign in the medium at the red light in front of Tom Thumb. I was stopped at red light on hwy 97 onto hwy 29. Light turned green. I looked to my left just to make sure no one was coming anyway and then turned right onto hwy 29 going south bound. Just as I pulled out a truck was making a u turn headed straight into me trying to cross over to tom thumb. Had I not slammed on brakes he would have hit me. Someone is going to be hurt bad if no u turn sign isn’t put up.

Honest John needs to learn driving laws in Florida. I imagine he is one of the many drivers in Escambia County who disobey the Florida law which is right on red after COMPLETE STOP. A U-turn on green arrow is LEGAL unless there is a sign saying no u-turns.

I would like to see a sign saying no “U” turn because I personally realize how careful you need to be regardless….but don’t see it as an illegal “u” turn – you are making more of a left than “U” why not to a “no right on red” on 97 because you make traffic worse sitting there on 97 trying to make a left on crabtree church to make another immediate left into Tom Thumb – I see that more dangerous.

For northbound hwy29 traffic, the left turn onto hwy97 should be on the green arrow ONLY. Many times it seems like you have enough time to get across, but when people going southbound are doing 70mph there isn’t enough time to make it across.

People making u-turns into the Tom Thumb are a major problem too, I don’t know why people can’t just go to another store on the right side of the road instead of choosing that one.

It’s just like I said before the light was installed, people need to learn what the right of way means and don’t try to turn in front of the oncoming traffic. Their speed is faster than you think. Pay attention to all lanes, using all mirrors, and turning your head. Have patience.

I pray everyone is ok, but this light is useless. People still pull out in front of you, they still turn in front of you and they still do illegal turns from the Northbound lanes into the Tom Thumb.
