"Imagine that" was probably referring to the fact when this first was published on here there was no mugshot. Usually NE has no problem posting a mugshot and stories about the general public, which I am sure the person in the picture or family member would wish it were not on here.
But then this Mug appeared later, probably when it was clear he was no longer an employee with the ECSO.
Odd the sheriff dept chimed in so defensively, when it was probably directed at the publisher of this story.

REGARDING:
"David
I believe the intended statement is Imagine that! Slander everyone else, but hide this coward."

I appreciate the attempt to explain and the punctuation and capitalization helped quite a bit if that was what was really intended, but even with greater understanding, it is confusing.

I don't see from the article where anyone was slandered by anyone, hidden by anyone or why the accused is called a coward -- if guilty, a criminal, yes, but even then, cowardice is not evident. So maybe he did something cowardly elsewhere?

It is hard to judge bravery when the accuser is hiding behind a false name -- or was he calling himself (herself?) a coward? So confusing...

David still for understanding

EMD, I meant it as it was written. Sheriff Morgan used that phrase on WCOA radio Wednesday morning. To generalize he was referring to the problem of how relationships influence decisions rather than logic or the actual facts surrounding an issue.

What does this mean?

" When the Sheriff speaks of the “cult of personality” ???? Typo? Or could you have meant, OFF the CUFF of personality......Is that what you meant? Confused.

People are very good at hiding what goes on after they leave work. And you don't have a clue what all goes on at ECSO before the action of terminating him happened. Also unless you know the details of what happened how can you be so critical of the action taken.

My thought: unless the said crime was captured on audio/video, and or, the subject outright admitted to the said crime, the sheriff (who, no doubt, conferred with his legal department first) would most likely have "suspended" the subject first, until a thorough investigation was completed. Typically, I believe that a "he said-she said" type-event would have proceeded with a suspension until an outcome was determined. That's what makes sense to me- perhaps I'm wrong.

@Trocarman

"Sounds like there is a lot of trouble within the Sheriff’s Department."

When "trouble" is found it is dealt with. We do not tolerate this at our agency. We can't predict the future... we don't when we hire an employee if they will commit a crime in the future. If they do, we deal with it.

@ citizen: He wasn't "found guilty"; he was fired. We don't know the extent of any conversations with his employer but, at any rate, it isn't the same as being found guilty of a crime.
