My wife and I work hard. We pay tuition, because we make more than the X amount for a "subsidy". I am totally against free tuition from tax dollars to pay for someone else's kids to go for free. What the heck are we working hard for? We sacrifice so much for our kids to get ahead and do better than us. If everyone made less than X amount, then everyone's kids would go for free. And there's not enough tax money in the country to pay for that. Total pipe dream. If you want to go to college, pay for it, either your parent(s), or get a loan. Or get a job and contribute. And to pencil: get real. Your "opportunity" is equal to others paying for someone else's kid to go to college, plain and simple. I can almost sympathize with you(not really). But you are talking about real money, taking my kids "opportunity" that has been hard earned and giving it to someone else. No way. Total sham.

Very few get the opportunity to get into college . . . there is a process that involves reading, math and critical thinking so not too many of you keyboard scholars would get in if you tried. Nevertheless, there are poor families in our area though with very bright children who given the opportunity will become professionals and make significant contributions to the future of Northwest Florida. A good trade school would be a much better idea for a lot of students. Also, will students be eligible for a scholarship regardless of their grades, attendance, etc.?
