I always enjoy the “only Americans” remarks. They are usually false to begin with but they also imply that we have to be like everyone else or we are wrong. This is definitely false.

This article is the new low of all…….just kidding! All I want is stories that are true, or true to the best of the journalists knowledge. This story made me smile, thinking about the crazy stuff some do to get attention like planting toilets on the roadside! Thanks for reporting it, we need these kinds of stories to ‘lighten” us up a bit. If the story doesn’t interest you, don’t read it and move on I say. Thanks William!

@Mixster, yes there once was a rest area, between Dogwood Park and Walnut Hill.

Individuals of a certain group began to use the area for an entertainment spot, this led to it being closed. Just like the facilities at the old bay bridge fishing pier had to be boarded up and porta-potties brought into use.

I hope that they will not use this new facility, something tells me that they will not likely do so.

In reality there absolutely needs to be a FDOT Welcome Station on the right side of the Road coming into Century. Travelers stop at the Welcome to Florida sign continually and there are no bath room facilities nor place to walk a dog. some beautiful landscaping would add to the touch.

Instead of old shacks and ugly retention pond, the leaders in Century could petition the FDOT and WFRPC and get it in the works.

It would add to the esthetics of the town and benefit the entire county.

This should have been put in the five year plan.
