I truely believe every word that Gary is saying.he is right.the inmates are treated bad there.if those guards working there that think they are better then those inmates well they aren’t because when u become a guard for any prison then u lose all respect from everyone.if those guards want respect from the inmates then they might give respect.

I worked at century prison for 5 yrs in the beginning it was cool to work there. you knew if something went down we had each other’s back. after working there for 3 years things started to go down hill. The administration was poorly supervised and the morale was getting low. Getting a call from Control at the end of your shift and telling you that you are up for a double was a part of the problem,. the secretary for the DOC is not making it safe or any better for the officers that are trying and want to do their job. I commend and pray for their safety out there in that hell hole everyday. some of my fellow officers that i worked with are still out there and i know its hard on them to have to adjust to how the prison system is run now. I am employed with the county now and the pay, safety and morale is so much better. STAY SAFE CENTURY!

Please, unless you work with us out here, don’t make comments like you did. People are so quick to judge & say we’re not doing our jobs. It has gotten to the point that we aren’t ALLOWED to do our jobs anymore. Much of it is due to all the bleeding-heart liberals who fight for inmate rights. As it stands, they have more rights than those of us who are on the outside of those fences. They have drugs, cigarettes, & cell phones coming in constantly. The STATE LEGISLATURE, our Governor, & Julie Jones have cut our numbers (staff) to the point we cannot do our jobs in the proper way our procedures dictate. So, Gary, I ask you, WHERE DOES THE PROBLEM REALLY BEGIN & JUST HOW WOULD YOU PROPOSE TO CORRECT IT?
I know how my fellow co-workers, who are there day in & day out, would answer the same question!
We need more officer slots allocated on all shifts, need to hire more officers, need a significant pay increase ( thankful for the one coming in October), but mostly, we need our hands UNTIED! LET US DO OUR JOBS!!!

Gary, if you think it will be different with you out there then sign up they are hiring everyday. If they are going to do something they are going to do it we do all we can to try to eliminate all the things that happen, you can’t stop everything.

As I have said many times, Century lock up is out of control. Somebody should be held accountable. It is every week something bad happens and nothing is being done to correct the problems.

I can’t afford dental or eye care for myself or my son. Inmates get it all free to them. I have to pay for them. Ah not really fair.

Almost every inmate in that dorm has a weapon. Too bad they don’t want us conducting searches anymore. An inmate with a weapon gets canteen restriction. And an inmate with a cellphone gets gain time loss. Absolutely stupid.

It is a shame tax payers are saddled with providing shelter, food, clothes, and medical services. These people are not going to be released into society any better than when they were sentenced. What a waste.
