I have a family member in jprison, life without parole (first offence) for attempted murder. I guess he would have been out by now if he had just killed the person.

Over a million dollars to house this man who got into an argument and chose to kill somebody with a gun. The taxpayers lose over a million, the family does not get their loved one back, and the cycle continues to bankrupt America. A stupid argument and a gun. Everybody lost.
