I was wondering about where the belief (or rumor) began that R W “Smokey” Peaden had perfect recall. And, it’s quite the coincidence that this was published on Mr. Peaden’s birthday. Albeit, 18 year’s after his death.

Maybe they recognized him as being one known to lack a valid drivers license. R. W. “Smokey” Peaden was reported to have perfect recall and to read all wanted posters before going out on patrol, that he arrested several fugitives while a policeman. He went downhill later but was a force for good for several years.

Imagine recreating his abilities. Consider the near future with facial recognition tied to outstanding arrest warrants, suspects, expired or revoked drivers licenses and patrol vehicle cameras.

Crooks would be scared to go out in public.
