The attacks on correctional staff will continue to occur. This incident is actually a 3rd degree felony offense of "Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer" - FSS 784.07(1d). This inmate should be arrested on the new charge and receive additional state time consecutive to his current prison sentence. Some of these inmates commit additional criminal offense while incarcerated as a means to get moved from one facility to another. And didn't this just happen to another officer a couple weeks ago by inmate serving life for murder , or was that somewhere else I was reading about ?
