		<description>REGARDING:
&quot;This fellow murdered five years ago. Why so long for sentencing?&quot;

Just under 4 years ago, actually. April 28, 2013 to 03/17/2017

It took the jury 3 days to be selected, hear the evidence, render a verdict (back in January of this year).

Most of the time since he was arrested back in April 2013 was grand jury regarding a depraved killer, bond hearings (none given), discovery, hearings related to seeking the death penalty, discovery, continuances, more hearings, more hearings up to the Florida Supreme court, waiting on the US Supreme Court rulings on related matters regarding death penalty, shut down everything due to the unconstitutionality of the charging law, changes in law by the Florida legislature, one attack on an officer and related trial,

So you could say the death penalty slowed things down.
Or you could say, opponents of the death penalty slowed things down.
Or you could say the Florida legislature slowed things down.
Or you could say the US Constitution slowed things down by guaranteeing rights to the accused and the convicted.

Or you could just remember he&#039;s been incarcerated the entire time anyway.
