Since the bridge re-build over Perdido River (barrineau park rd.) the traffic
has increased considerably . Now you’ll see Semi’s coming from I-10 being
routed off the Interstate in Alabama . I would guess many are observing the
speed limit but some sure are not. A once quiet road that was only (somewhat)
Dangerous has been transformed. My suggestion is to reduce the speed limit
to 45mph ( what’s the limit on Molino rd and Jacks branch ?). My calls to the
ECSD and dist.5 commissioner Barry were a waste of my time. A traffic light @
Hwy 196 (barrineau park rd ) & hwy 29 is a must if the speed limit isnt reduced.
What might work instead is if about 75 speeding tickets per month were handed-out .

I have a feeling – other than the ones running the stop signs – some of these may be caused by the windshield supports blocking their view. I know it has almost happened to me that way.

A traffic light may be needed there with caution lights flashing to the south of it, to warn of the light at that intersection. I have lost count of the horrible accidents at that intersection, including a death there close to home. :’(

My praise to all the first responders that assisted in this accident, this was an accident that could have resulted in much damage and pain but for a few blessings many others were spared . Thank you for all the people that stopped to rendered aid!
We truly live in a compassionate community.
Pray for the young man that was taken to the hospital!

The boy driving the Nissan is home. He is shaken up and bruised and had a concussion, but he will be fine!

I travel Hwy 29 and Barrineau Park Rd. on a daily basis. I have seen several accidents at this intersection and some of them were fatalities. My husband and I witnessed a car running the stop sign on the west side. It was a miracle that they made it across all four lanes of traffic. I think it would be good to have a caution light installed like the one at Hwy 29 and Molino Rd.

Despite the view of traffic being very clear from ALL directions my dad & I were very fortunate to have survived a terrible collision there in ‘91. An intoxicated driver from the west coming from Perdido River ran the stop sign and T-boned us who never slowed down. I live very close to this dangerous intersection and have physically seen many many accidents and near miss vehicles running the stop sign. As I stated the view from all directions is very satisfactory. I pray this current accident’s victim(s) recovers well.

This sounds like the same place that my frien and classmate was killed a number of years ago as she was going to work in Cantonment. There has been a number of fatalities there and so many injured people. I think there gas got to be a LARGE sign put up there coming into Hwy 29. A lot of these troopers are too young to remember the fatalities I believe at the same intersection. Please folks and especially the younger drivers be more careful with vehicles you are driving! Law Enforcement has their hands full.
