I dunno.
Riding in the back is much safer than riding on the hood.

(We had neighbors pile their offspring on the hood of their vehicle. Fun to watch them slide off when brakes were applied. No brain damage we could determine as compared to their usual Einsteinian selves.)

To me I do not think that people making comments on this law are against the safety of their dogs. Many breeds are very expensive especially when it comes to hunting dogs and top end shepherds. The issue I see is another law getting into our daily living and telling us how to live. In my view there are way more things that the state needs to be addressing that who rides in the back of a pickup truck. I have pets that ride with me and they are family to me thus I do whatever I can to keep them safe.

I transport 4 large German Shepherds (100 lbs +) the the vet in my open utility trailer. Each is secured by a leash so that they can sit or stand but not lie down. If a dog can not raise their head up over the side of the trailer – they will NOT attempt to jump out.
Never had a single incident. As a matter of fact – they RUN to the trailer to get in.

Just what we need; another law. Isn’t it part of living in the South that your dog and even your children should be allowed to ride on the back of a pick-up? I say let’s pass a law outlawing stupid laws proposed by out of touch politicians who don’t know the difference between a Beagle and a Bull-dog!
