Let’s please not resort to name calling because we don’t agree with what someone has said. I love children and wish to keep them all as safe as possible. I also love animals, dogs especially., But, let’s let the police do their jobs and investigate the incident. And then take the proper measures. I do applaud the dog owners for surrendering their dogs when I know that would be so very hard to do. But in that same incident, as much as I love my 3 dogs, I would do the same. The children must be taken care of. They depend on us as much as our dogs do. When we have them, animals and kids, we are responsible for them and their actions. Many, many prayers to all involved, especially the toddler.

It’s just that, from the article, it makes it seem like a toddler just may have opened the gate, and anyone would wonder right away if the parents were there or not to maybe have stopped that happening. No blaming. Just wondering abt details. Whatever happened, so very sorry! Prayers for the toddler and all involved.<3

Jessica…….if he is watched all the time, did they just “WATCH” him walk to another home, open the gate, and get attacked? Then there is still a problem.

I really wish everyone would stop trying to blame the parents. He is watched all the time. He is very muched love anf by no means neglected. If you so not know all of the details then you may keep your opinion to yourself. I love that little boy and so does his entire family. I have 4 kids and i can tell you it takes a second for a toddler to get out of your sight. It is impossible to watch a child every second of the day. This is not child neglect or endangerment, simply and accident.

Bam Bam, I think you might need to stop judging others & take your own advice. You stated that it is child neglect & child endangerment accuse others of not watching their kids then turn around & admit that your pits not pit but pits sleep with your 4 kids each night, how do they do that unwatched by you or do you stay awake & watch yours 24/7? Hello? That’s what I thought, I really hope & pray nothing happens to your kids. I have kids & regardless of how close I watch mine, they still get into stuff, whether they catch me starting a load of laundry or putting them into dryer or hanging my laundry out.

Dog attacks on children happen a lot more than people realize. My daughter works in a hospital.

Pits cann be very loving, but I know first hand they will turn on oeners in a heartbeat. You can feed them love them train them but watchout. I had a grandson in his own yard, pit jumped fence and killed him. Had calabash grandma that rasied and loved and fead her son’s pit. One day bam, attacked and ripped her face half off. Pits might not bite more than small dogs but I would take a hundred Chihuahua bites to one pit bite. Please keep your dogs secure. Prayers for toddler and all concerned.

I agree with David Huie Green 100%. The legal issues are in all probability up in the air. Only a couple of days ago a man was arrested in Navarre because his two children (4 and 6 years old) played unsupervised or loosely watched in a Navarre park. (Due to close proximity of the water and a major highway)

Sadly this would never had to have happened if 2 things had occurred. If you have dogs outside make sure your fence/gates are child proof and if you have kids look after them closer. Dogs are animals and unpredictable and kids are curious and most love dogs.. Tradgic but an avoidable accident.
