This is logs from all the clear cutting Ala has been doing for the last 10 years on the land that used to be hunting clubs off of Hwy112. Such a shame. If they would let people pull the logs out and use them like they used to it wouldn't be near as bad. And yes they really need to let the Corp of Engineers clean up the log jam between the dump and Hwy90 badly. I believe that's one of the reasons why there is so much extra flooding in the Perdido River drainage areas, like Eleven Mile Creek, Jacks Branch, Eight Mile Creek, etc.

this is the log jam that was about 1/2 a mile up the river. the one between 3-runs and they ferry makes this look small. If laforesta would let the army core of engineers access the river from the Florida side without taking them to court over the logs in the river then we would not have this problem.

Most of the logs had the tops cut out of them.

From the size of that jam, hopefully the big jam up near Bay Springs is open and we can now hunt the upper river to Dyess Creek?

Both Styx river & Perdido river have been blocked since Ivan!
They need to unblock them both.
Only few miles north of new ramp on highway 90 (both rivers)
I was raised on these rivers & have canoed, tubed, boated & ridden PWC on both rivers since moving to Beulah in the early 70's.
We're losing out on fishing & boating on these awesome rivers!
Also think wildlife preserve (old hunting club on perdido river south of hwy 90 )
Should be a camping ground, equestrian trails, it even has a boat tamp already there just needs improvement.

What a waste of space. Jus saying

I don't know why this is such big news when other parts of the river have looked this bad for years. "JS" commented that he/she would like to see an updated Google satellite shot of the river. Look at the shot that is already there to see how bad the whole river is.

Looks like a lot of cut wood to me. Where did those fallen trees get tossed after the tornado's last spring?

This is what You get with clear cutting the Timber. There is nothing to keep the scrap
wood on the hills. This will happen again and again.
