It was crazy. We were glad the guy was okay though. He was very lucky to not have been thrown from that car because he was obviously not wearing his seatbelt when it happened. When we checked on him he had been thrown from the driver seat into the passenger seat but he was conscious and not too badly hurt as far as we could tell. It was said a car came into his lane and he wrecked trying to avoid it. The paramedics had awesome response time too. I saw that wreck happen. It was crazy. We were glad the guy was okay though. They run because they know that local law enforcement policy prohibits chasing them. In response to Ddg: Multiple units on a traffic stop (or any other potentially dangerous interaction) prevent attacks on our officers. You should ride along one day... it'll change your perspective. I know a guy (not a friend) who has a criminal record including five driving with a suspended licence. One night, driving with no insurance, no license, drinking a berr, on his way to bond his girlfriend out of jail for elder abuse, he gets pulled over by an ECSO deputy in Cantonment. (I received details from his passenger). Not sure if the deputy seen the beer but all he did was write the guy a notice to appear for driving on suspended licence. The guy goes to court (driving mind you) and gets a fine for $273 and adjudication of guilt withheld. They just tacked it onto the over $3,000 he already owes in traffic fines and he walked out of the courthouse and drove home in the same friends truck he got pulled over in. To me that is sick. Now after he was pulled over had he run over a little girl maybe they would make some changes. It seems it takes trajedy to law abiding citizens to get punishment for the law breaking ones. I went to the Clerk of Court website and he was also charged as it was his 1st offense. A misdemeanor is supposed to be a felony on the 3rd one. At any rate all it shows is the citation # not a deputy id or anything. The system failed the citizens of this county from the first line of defense (deputy) to the last (judge).
