When a teacher - or a student - thinks of a service project - you can bet that they would love to know that their idea and effort inspired someone to do something, too! One idea I heard about from a family with triplets -- They collected jars of peanut butter and jelly instead of birthday gifts ...another mom of a third grader helped her daughter pick out a cause they could support and donated a portion of her birthday gift money... After the oil spill it was a student in my class who inspired the rest of us to collect items on the Wildlife Refuge's wish list... As kids get older, let them do the research about a couple charities - what do they claim to do, how are their reviews, what percentage of donations go to the cause vs. admin costs, etc.... then pick the one they feel the best about! OR - they can start their own. Check out the Chocolate Bar book and the amazing results sales of a young boy's book are getting!!! Best wishes!!!!

Way to go children. If folks would keep their hearts as children, this country, this world, would be much better off. Big thanks to Council on Aging. Great and caring people.my great grandmother lived her last five years with us before passing on her 102nd birthday. Council on Aging never failed us.
