I know I am late, but this breaks my heart. Andreas and Kilo are both my brothers. Neither one of them are uneducated or stupid. Kilo was a straight A student in school and is very intelligent. He hooked up with the wrong crowd and somebody did him dirty. He had been dealing with his mental issue since he got a hold of the bad drugs. I tried to help him as much as I could, but it wasn’t much I could do with a husband and 3 kids to care for. He really has been out of his mind and haven’t been his self since. He is constantly thinking people are talking to him in his head. He no longer carries a cell phone because he thinks someone is listening in on his conversation. For you people to be so judgemental I’m sure your family has its problems as well. Sometimes we just need to pray and hope God heals his mind and heart. If it was your kin, I would do the same because nothing comes of talking badly about someone. I even pray God heal your hearts as well. The Bible says if you judge someone you become them so guess what? You are no better. I don’t know why my mom named him that but we joke about it all the time and I love his name. Kilo is really lost at this moment. Let’s pray instead of criticizing someone’s down fall. I miss my little brother, my life hasn’t been the same since either!!

Being schizophrenic does no excuse him from committing a crime. He went there, stole a vehicle, his statement about never having a driver’s license, doesn’t come into play.

I am a product of the public school system in Escambia County. I consider myself intelligent and articulate. I can also say with the certainty of observation, in many cases the school system doesn’t fail the students. They simply do not want to put forth the effort to learn. They arrive in high school with expectations of being the next sports superstar or are too interested in “hanging with their homies”. What HAS failed them is a structured home life guiding them responsibly. The lure of drug money or other crime is overpowering when compared to the task of ongoing education. Don’t blame the system if children show up determined to attend just long enough to leave. To paraphrase – “you can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.”

Most likely, Andreas dropped out rather than taking advantage of the free public education to which we are all entitled. I am a product of the public school system, and I think that I have a good education in addition to being a teacher myself. It’s very possible that Andreas was passed along, but it’s much more likely that he was not passed along and quit school when he reached the end of the compulsory age where he was required to go to school. That being said, we are each responsible for what we chose to do with what we are given.

We don’t know do we? I think it’s a bit harsh to blame every bit of this on the educational system.

Andreas is a real good example as to what our education system IS NOT doing.

They should have failed Andreas and all others just like him that I see on these sites. Most can’t even make a sentence let alone spell correctly. TERRIBLE !!!!

It reflects WHY our Country has fallen from the top where the US once was the leader back in the day. Just read some of the post people put on these North Escambia news article sites and you will see for yourself.

It is a two edge sword, It is funny to read BUT sad to know loads of stupid / ignorant people out there and it is the schools fault for not failing them and making them repeat the grade. Shame on the Schools for passing them along.
