Yes there was an accident involving a deputy earlier this year. I know the people that were injured. A traffic light won't completely stop accidents there, of course, but will certainly reduce the number of them. I think this is because the current stop sign intersection causes people to pull out in front of oncoming traffic and take risks because they have been sitting and waiting for their chance to pull out and move on. A traffic light would then be timed and drivers would know that they have a certain amount of time they have to wait, instead of looking back and fourth and taking a chance as many do. A traffic circle (roundabout) would not work here because the two roads are not of equal size and US 90 is a route also used by 18-wheelers which would have difficulty going straight through. If the state/county has not started the process of installing traffic controls, they need to be pushed.

In addition to the angled intersection, the stop sign while travelling southbound is so very far to the right side of the roadway and mounted so high that it is difficult to see.....even if you are familiar with the intersection. It's no surprise that someone would neglect to see it. Rumble strips, a blinking light above the stop sign, and/or a large reflective STOP written on the roadway would make it safer while we all wait for the promised redesign.

Ok, so light would do no good? Like everyone who said the light at 97 and 29 would not help. Maybe William could get the stats, but I guarantee that accidents there are now a fraction of what they were. 99 and Mobile has the same problem with an angled crossing. Not to mention that in the afternoon traffic backs up 20 or more cars on the southbound side of 99. Beulah is growing so fast, it is going to be overwhelmed if infrastructure does not keep up.

Light won't fix this intersection, they still have regular accidents at all the intersections on 9mile with lights, people need to pull their heads out their phones and touch screens, and learn how to drive.

That Tahoe is marked now.

Improvements there such as the light are not to start until a year from now.
