Honeysuckle Garden Club and Barrineau Park Historical Society sponsors a yearly cleanup the 3rd Saturday in April in honor of EARTH DAY..We meet at the Barrineau Park Community Center at 9:30 get trash bags,pick up sticks and water and sign up for a specific local area..we meet back at the center for a complimentary lunch..we enjoy our visit and leave the area cleaner at the same time.

There’s page with info on the Sheriff’s Office website. They are booked out with a monthly clean sweeps until early 2018. Century is set for October 2017.

What is the best way to get an area on the Operation Clean sweep list? Who heads it up, how do you make it happen? Does ECSO choose then notify, could it start with a town official? Such as can it be brought to the attention of the mayor and council or does it have to come through a citizen?
Can someone who has had this in their neighborhood weigh in?
I think this is a fantastic program. I agree with the broken window theory, I’ve witnessed it on my own corner and street.
Of course community involvement is a good thing.
Can you use the prison force to do more in neighborhoods?

Just having their presence in the area helps detour crime. Kind of like Public hangings did. I can’t imagine a world w/o Law.

Its nice to see the ECSO coming to Molino more, the past month has been a reminder we havent been forgotten. There is alot of incoming and outgoing drug issues in the area that need to be taken care of. It wont happen over night but keeping the community on watch is a reminder they are risking their freedom. Keep up the good work!

@Walnut Hill, I’m glad to see that you know me, (sarcasim). I live in the area, and my family and I do get off our “critical fannies” and clean up trash, weedeat, mow, etc. county areas, keep the grass cut in proximity to our property, as well as help whoever we can.

All I wask trying to do was draw some attention, from the right people, that would be willing to organize, and execute such an effort in the area.

So, I appreciate you and your comments, however,I was not criticizing the efforts by ECSO, or anyone for their remarks or input, nor was I “whinning”.

I hope everyone has a great upcoming holiday, and give thanks to all that serve our communities, the families of public servants, and most of all your own family in which you want to keep safe and out of harms way.

Thanks to the ECSO! It would seem regardless of what is done by the agency that is between the sane and insane world of criminal behavior, nothing seems to please some folks. Again, thanks to all the LEO and CO that allow most of us to sleep peaceably each night!

“Picking up trash does not stop crime! ”

Nothing stops crime but people deciding to not commit crimes.
Being watched convinces a few to delay.
If they delay long enough, they may forget to commit the crime.
