Prayers for all. How you all judge. Were you there did you see what happened. What if you have a accident. What if one of your family was driving and hit someone. None of us wants it to be us it’s always bad. Some of us does not have anyone to drive us. We have to go to the store. The doctor Some of the older people drive better than some younger. And what about the one who drink and drive or the one on drugs. Don’t throw stones it might be your own window you break.

Well news flash for some of you – I am 71 yrs old – I drive – I did take an eye test for my license – I cut, edge and maintain 1 acre of land – I clean my own house (and am very fussy) I go to the store I cook my own meals – I belong to clubs and am very active.

I see kids driving very recklessly – BUT the 30-40 yr olds are on I110 and everywhere else texting = have their ipads out – 20 yr olds have babies in the back seat – on their phone- texting and in a hurry to drop off kids and get to work – - 50-60- yr olds are beginning to see this is crazy and not doing that as much

SO every single age group is doing something wrong by being STUPID – so let’s not blame anything on anyone – BOTH families are hurting and need prayers and support.

Just saying…but so many of you are awfully quick to judge this driver and bunch all us 60 year olds, or older together. The truth? An accident is just that. And to the person saying did people know they could kill a motorcyclist for $200 or less..well..that’s an awfully callous way of saying that.. what if it had been around a thirty year old….what would yall say then? Accidents do happen and I feel for both of them … that man who lived will have to live with this guilt the rest of his life…

I’m 65 years old. I can drive and see just fine. I don’t need glasses or contacts, I work out regularly at a fitness center. But can’t say I can speak for a few others my age and older. My 85 yr old father does not drive any longer. His children won’t allow it. Families of elderly people should step up to the plate and take the keys and the car. Forbid them to drive. Offer other ways of transportation if you have to drive them yourself. Eye, hearing and driving test should be enforced after 70. After 65 if any prior accidents. Many people are still working at age 70, so I feel confident enough that most are in good shape to drive. Mr. Harwell should be forced (as part of his punishment) to attend courses designed to positively affect driving behavior and to help seniors learn about age-related physical changes that may impact their ability to drive safely, followed by tips on how to adjust to those changes. Prayers for the families involved in this accident.

Mike I agree with everything you said plus a person should be at least 21 before they are allowed to drive. The number one cause of death young drivers is driving.

Charges, if any, will be limited to CARELESS DRIVING which carries a $163 fine. I wonder how many other states let you kill motorcyclists for less than $200?

“I didn’t see him” shouldn’t be a get out of jail free card any more than “I didn’t know it was loaded” is!

I’m normally quite compassionate with human beings that make mistakes. This case wasn’t an accident in the strictest sense. This was an event that WAS going to happen, eventually. Drivers over the age of 60 should be required to have an eye test for renewal or after a traffic accident. Additionally, at the age of 70, they should be required to prove their reflexes in an actual driving test. Beyond the age of 75, an ANNUAL test for vision and reflexes. I’m 56 and had I killed the motorcyclist, I’d be headed for a cell and ruined financially to boot. Driving is a privilege, not a right. The cost of those tests could be written off for the poor. No excuses.

Mike, I was severely injured in 1979 by an elderly driver who took a LH turn into the path of my MC. It took over 1.5 years and 2 surgeries for my bones to heal. Now, with me well into my 50s, I’m afraid to ride my motorcycles except on deserted country roads.
