On your ballot you can vote for the two supreme court justices who opposed the division to make it unanimous. There is a movement slow and sure to try to get things back to the right. Also the court of appeals has several judges appointed by Scott. Look them up, retain them. Vote out the incumbents appointed by others. Look up first district court of appeals taj mahal vote them out. The criminal justice system has to swing back to the right or we are doomed. Vote Trump for US supreme court justice appointments. We have to get a handle on this liberal system. It has not been working.

Actually, reasonable or unreasonable, logic doesn’t extend one to the other.

They are separate questions.

If we decided unanimity were required, it would be interesting, though. Don’t just require it for the death penalty, require it for any sentence. If the jury doesn’t agree — let us say on life in prison — declare a hung jury and try to get a new jury to agree on the sentence, keep doing it until all agree the sentence should be 20 years or all agree the sentence should be life or all agree the sentence should be death or whatever.

Judicial job security.

Always interesting that the opinion doesn’t have to be unanimous to require a unanimous decision.

This is exactly why people sit on death row for 20 years. They know the laws are flawed.

If you take the time to think about it, this decision makes perfect sense. You have to have a unanimous guilty/not guilty verdict for the charge so it’s logical the jury must be unanimous on the penalty of death too.

Why is it these liberal people will do all they can to save a convicted murder on death row , but dont even have a ounce of compassion for a unborn baby no problem killing them and they are truly innocent.
