Jason, I called DOT about getting four lanes from Pine Forest at Detroit to 9 mile road and was told it wasn’t in the five year list of road construction. I guess they didn”t count on all that southbound traffic on Pine Forest road in the morning will need to go northbound in the afternoon. PPP.

Four years to complete widening of 5 miles of roadway is ridiculous! I can’t be the only one fed up with the way these projects are managed. Too many hands in pockets and not enough on shovels is why these projects take so long. This should be a two year project tops, and yes I have experience with projects of this nature.

Great News for people traveling on Highway 29. When can we get great news about Olive Road? How much longer for that much needed project?

Highway 29 is a traffic nightmare going to and from work for folks living in northern Escambia county, and despite the sacrifice during construction, it will be a welcome expansion. It’s long overdue, but if everyone will be kind and considerate of others, or use alternate routes, it will be a great improvement!

Personally I am glad it is all being done at once. Get it done and over with. First 15 years or so I lived here I10 and I110 were under construction somewhere. Never knew where the lanes would be from one day to the next.

I wondered why they were doing this before fixing 9 Mile, but if they did 9 Mile road widening first, Hwy 29 and 9 Mile would be a nightmare to use and even worse to fix without the flow control that is 9 Mile Rd from 29 to Beulah Rd.
It’s just sad that Escambia County is so consistent at having no foresight when it comes to planning our roads.

The smart Engineers are starting the widening of 9mile to Beulah at Beulah Rd -how smart is that with nine mile Rd already at about 25000 cars a day at Pine Forest (per state engineers) and 8000 @ Beulah. Yes it needs it but why start “bass squares”?

What a pain this will be for commuters while the work is in progress. But what a relief it will be once the work is complete. Hopefully by 2030 they will extended the widening to 6 lanes all the way to Muskogee Rd.

The widening on 9-mile road from Beulah to Hwy 29 cant begin soon enough. Its another traffic nightmare.

Too bad they dont find a way to 4-lane the the mile of Pine Forest Rd from I-10 to Hwy 297-a by Publix. That is another much needed traffic relief project.
