It's amazing how quickly and how HOT a car fire can be and that's due in part to the plastics used throughout the vehicles. If an accelerant was used in order to destroy evidence then it could have been more intense and rapid. It will be interesting to hear follow-up on this. Have seen a few vehicle fires that started due to wiring shorting out, battery exploding and other means.

I doubt the hood was stolen. Due to the high heat of the fire, the thin metal just melts away like it was plastic. Having had a truck catch fire and burn in my driveway, It looked very similar to this vehicle. That being everything from the dashboard to the front bumper just melted.
