REGARDING:
"even if a child has passed the class, if they fail that EOC, they don’t get credit & have to take that course again."

If they fail to pass the end of course exam, they haven't passed the class; they were -- at most -- just there. (This assumes the exam covers what they were supposed to learn of course. failing to pass the exam means they DID NOT learn it.)

So, yes, they need to take it again or to have never taken it in the first place since they wasted their time, the teacher's time, the classmates' time and the taxpayers' money.

That also goes with those stupid EOC( end of course exams), even if a child has passed the class, if they fail that EOC, they don't get credit & have to take that course again. I believe if a child does really good, they shouldn't have to be based on that test.

Parents should right away at the beginning of the school year inform the district that their kids will not be taking any state standards test. It will give them the entire year to evaluate the students with other ways to determine if they should pass such as a portfolio. We should step back from these test being any part of retention.
