@Football Mom, You admit it was negligence. That means it could have been avoided. Of course the young man had no intention of hurting others or himself. He simply failed, as many of us do at one time or another, to take sufficient caution. Hope all involved are healing nicely and can soon put this incident behind them and perhaps take a lesson from it.

No, what “we’ve” grown accustomed to is not accepting that yes, while thru negligence, accidents happen.
Meaning…….I would bet the farm, Mr. Jackson didn’t set out on that trip to put his and other people’s lives in danger. Was he negligent when he pulled his vehicle in front of the other one? Yes, absolutely. Did he do it on purpose? I would say probably not. THAT would make it an accident.

Drivers on Highway 29 between Roberts Road and Atmore cutoff are ridiculous. I have seen more avoidable accidents here than anywhere I have ever lived. It’s should be named the North Escambia 500. Folks have GOT to start paying more attention and have better situational awareness. No more lights are needed. Just need to close the median in certain areas and enforce the laws. I go to work early everyday and I can’t begin to count how many car, trucks, and semis show blatant disregard for speed limits and traffic lights at 29 and Chemstrand Road early in the mornings. This will be the next big AVOIDABLE accident that claims life.

From I-10 on hwy 29…..how many speed limit changes until reach Flomaton,ala. ? how many ( non stop light) major east/west intersections are there ? How much excessive speeding both cars and big trucks is out there ? How much Law enforcement ( giving tickets ) is out there ? How much respect ( for others ) is out there ? How much driving stupidity/ignorance is out there ? How much distracted driving is out there ? How much driving while drunk/ drugs is out there ? So the list goes on and on ! We grown-ups sure “mess things up ” with when there’s no discipline and intelligence and respect out there ! Kinda like kids huh ?

Getting tired of seeing way too many bad wrecks along one of the nicest highways in the area, mainly because of not paying attention or speeding, or both. Do you think that if they put speed bumps every 10 feet all along the highway on both sides, people will start paying attention, or what???? It is getting ridiculous folks !!!

I was a passenger in what could and probably should have been a fatal accident here! Thank God for my life and well as a very dear friend of mine, we put or seat belts on in front of grocery advantage for some unknown reason! Teenagers trying to beat dads alarm clock after a night of partying at Pensacola beach! We actually were sober ( not normal for us back then) doing the speed limit! A drunk driver flew threw the stop sign! Smashing into the the passenger side of our car! To this day I flinch when I see some one approaching a stop sign, or hear loud noices in traffic! Luckily by God grace there were no serious injuries! Did get a neat helicopter ride to the hospital! And I I’ll carry a scar on my upper leg for the rest of my life. Point is light or no light, it couldn’t have been avoided on our end!!! No more lights in north Escambia please!!! We got the one that was needed at Atmore cutoff, any more are unjustified! People will still wreck because it is the lack of common since, education, and human decency! Just food for thought from some one who has been in this very predictament

@Football Mom……..There IS a reason for accidents. It’s called ‘negligence’ ! Accidents don’t happen when there is no negligence. We’ve grown accustomed to wrongly using the word ‘accident’ anytime someone makes an error. Negligence can be, among other things, poor judgement to faulty or no maintenance on a vehicle or other means of conveyance. The only so called accident that can’t be avoided, some might call an”Act of God”.

I thank the Good Lord for keeping his hands on both vehicles and saving there lives my family was driving the f-150 I am so thankful they are safe and in my arms. The vehicle can be replaced there lives can’t be. Thanks for all your prayers and concerns.

Sailing over the hill approaching Neal Rd southbound at 75-80+ mph is very common and needs to be stopped. If these aggressive drivers won’t obey the speed limit on their own, then a light is necessary. I live in this area and would welcome a light to get people to slow down. Let’s get it done.

u have a good idea….no going straight across….no going north….
Just go south then do a 180 asap. Completely close off the open
median and no light needed ?
sure not blaming intersection but speeders and multiple lanes
Going north & south, bright auto lights etc. and who ever said the
50% of drivers that shouldn’t be driving at all, have any common
sense ?
take a look @ the very poor conditions for driving into , around ,
and out of
The sports complex ( off well line rd ). Bout decided you’ll get my
Support and would like your take on it.
does Cooley lane intersect hwy 29 from the west ?
