When you give prisoners an inroad, there will be no stop to their demands, funny thing is kosher prepared food will no longer get you ANY special favor, grace, increased faith, or salvation. A person can appear religious outwardly full of rituals and traditions and still on their way to hell.

Most people have “a certain… moral flexibility would be the only way to describe it.”
And some are converted after incarceration.
And some people’s religious teachings demand they violate American laws.

AND
“Some bleeding heart judge gives convicted crooks kosher food to satisfy their religious beliefs?”

Don’t blame the judges.
This is per legislature as best I remember. But take heart,
make it all kosher and vegan.
The health and happiness of the clients is very important.

if prisoners were smart they’d make up religion wherein they must eat steak, fried chicken, pizza, burgers, etc. how did the idea that inmates can pick & choose what they are gonna eat ever get started in the first place? camp 5 solitary inmates used to get the plate scraps made into a baked roll from the plates of finished meals of other inmates. let those kosher prisoners try that!

Just put the Kosher food in the vending machines. Serve regular diet in the cafeteria. If the prisoners have money to buy non-kosher food out of machines, they can prove they are keeping their faith by paying for their diet instead of buying junk food. Peanut butter and sardines are both available in tin cans, perfect for vending machines.

I taught my kids they had to pay the consequences when they did something wrong, when they were growing up, like doing without something they wanted. Today, no one has any consequences. They go to jail get free cable, meals, weight gyms, do nothing all day, and get free room and board on our dime. Stop giving them everything they want and maybe people will stop doing the stuff to go to jail for. For most its a revolving door because they don’t know how to make it on the outside, holding down a job.

If they want Kosher meals let their families pay for it.

I thought that going to jail was a punishment, not a reward that it has become….

We, the taxpayers have to provide special food for inmates but the correction officers don’t get a raise in several years. Something is very wrong here and I think it starts with the so called “judges”. Serve four and out the door for ALL politicians and judges!

If they eat non kosher food they should be pulled from the kosher meal program.
